Dow Idles Portion of PMDI Production at TX Facility
l The Dow Chemical Company has idled a portion of its polymeric methyl diphenyl diisocyante (PMDI) production capacity at Houston Operations in La Porte, TX, until further notice. Dow’s PMDI capacity in La Porte is approximately 500 million pounds.
“The recent escalation in energy costs combined with unfavorable feedstock costs have forced Dow to idle a portion of La Porte’s PMDI capacity,” said Stephanie Barbour, business director for Dow’s polyurethanes rigids and CASE business. “Margin and pricing restoration will dictate when we restart the idled portion of the La Porte facility.”
